wraps (acrylic on cardboard, 2004)
|
| |
|
| |
qualities of the wraps:
the suggestion of natural process using material, that is visibly vulnerable to the effects of human treatment:
warping, shrinking, shriveling and cracking,
their nicks, chips, bruises, scars, dents, peeling.
- all things are impermanent -
|
| |
|
| |
irregular
human-made, handmade "wrong" (clumsy, awkward) offers of lines, shapes, cuts, insecure positions or attitudes, exhibit the effects of accident or may show the result of just letting things happen by chance.
- all things are imperfect -
|
| |
|
| |
intimate
quiet, compact, inward-oriented, they beckon you: get close, touch, relate,
they are tranquil and calming, enveloping and womb-like.
|
| |
|
| |
unpretentious
unassuming, understated and artless, coexist with their environment.
- all things are incomplete -
|
| |
|
| |
simple
simplicity, nothingness - before and after nothingness, simplicity is not so simple:
economy of means, pared down to the essence, without removing the poetry.
clean, but not sterilized, never cold, but emotionally warm. - things compel us to look at that something, over, and over, and over again - |
